DESIGN SOLUTION

In order to match users with suggested jobs that suit their needs and interests, data collection is key. LinkedIn already collects a large amount of data about users, but if it were to gather data from social networks, google analytics, geolocation, as well as onsite visits, the jobs suggestions could become drastically more personal.

Although data analytics is key, content and presentation is also important on LinkedIn. LinkedIn has the ability to track users interests and movement throughout the site, so surfacing the content in a way that is engaging and stands out to individuals is important. At the same time, surfacing content that is more relatable then their resume and general interests will tell a lot about a person and their needs and desires.

RESEARCH

Interview 10 current passive LinkedIn users/ job seekers

Created a persona to help define the user

FINDINGS

What influences a user most is not often easily found in job applications, and therefor takes away the incentive to apply.

Often times applying to a job is impersonal and leaves a user feeling like it will end up in a pile untouched. Bringing a level of credibility to job applications is compelling.

Knowing a users resume and skills is not enough. Finding a way to learn more about them, their interests, struggles, desires tell a lot about what a person is looking for.
